Portage Senior Citizens Opportunities
Weekdays
The Portage County Senior Center, located at 705 Oakwood St., in Ravenna has many daily opportunities for local seniors to enjoy. On any given day, you can enjoy, bingo, Tai Chi, educational programs, art class, corn hole, cards & dominos with friends, and they even have a pool table. They serve lunch daily (by reservation) and are open M-F from 9-3. If you would like more information you may call them at 330-297-3456.

The Phyllis Zumkehr Portage County Clothing Center, which is located at 3377 State Route 59, Ravenna, is looking for volunteers to help with sorting, hanging and stocking clothing and helping customers. Hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m.If you are interested in volunteering, contact Veronica Williamson at 330-819-9760 or email fourwildwinds@yahoo.com.

What Is In Your Attic?
The Garrettsville United Methodist Church will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the congregation with a special service Sunday, November 18, 2018. We are looking for photos, confirmations, baptisms, wedding photos, etc. and especially memories you or your family might have. Items need to be clearly marked so they can be returned. The church office is open Tuesday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or contact the church at 330-527-2055 and someone will pick up any articles. Items will be displayed at a pot luck dinner following the special worship service.

Men on Mondays, a men’s Bible study, is held every Monday from 6:45 – 8 pm at the Cellar Door Coffee Shop in Garrettsville. Coffee and pastry will be provided at no charge.

The Purple Butterfly Effect Banquet

On Tuesday, November 6th, get out and vote and then head to Parkman Congregational Church (18265 Madison Road -1/4 mile north of St. Rt. 422 in Parkman) for a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings from 4:30 until 7:00 p.m. We will be serving turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, squash, green beans, slaw, cranberry sauce, rolls, beverages and pie for dessert. Adult dinners are $12.00; children (ages 5-11) are $6.00; pre-schoolers are free. Take-outs are available (adult-size only).
