Bainbridge Community Church Donation Days
Spring Cleaning is here! Bainbridge Community Church UCC is collecting gently used items for our annual “Take what you need, Give what you can” Rummage Sale from Tuesday May 22nd through Thursday, May 24th between 6-8 p.m. Large item pick-up is available on Tuesday, May 22 or Thursday, May 24th. Sale day is Saturday, May 26th from 9 a.m. – 1p.m. Call 440-543-5117 for information or to schedule pick up. 50% of proceeds will be donated to Next Step of Geauga County.

Grief Support Group
Sundays
Grief Group meets every Sunday at 3 pm. The meetings are held at Garrettsville United Methodist Church and last about an 1 – 1 ½ hours. Everyone is welcome. For questions you can call the church at 330-527-2055.

Do you have a family member controlled by drugs or alcohol and don’t know where to turn? Families Anonymous might be the support group you need. Don’t face it ALONE! Grief Gathering 2018

St. Ambrose Church will be offering “to the community” a grief gathering on Wednesday evenings,through May 23, from 7 to 9 pm in the church hall. Linda R. Simpson , a parishioner, will be facilitating the six weekly sessions of continuous information and support for grieving individuals. This beautiful, gentle program is a wonderful “first step” in helping yourself, or assisting another, through the difficult journey of grieving a loss. The Portage County Historical Society is planning its Spring Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 19 at the Historical Society grounds, 6549 N. Chestnut St., Ravenna.
An added feature this year will be a fundraiser sale of 19th and 20th century antiques (none belonging to the society), plants and miscellaneous items. Vendors are needed. Steps Of Change

Come join OhioCan, Portage, along with concerned community members for our ‘STEPS OF CHANGE’ event from 12 P.M. TO 4 P.M. on Saturday, May 19th. Something for everyone; food, children’s activities, music, 50/50 raffle, basket raffle, and Community resources and speakers. Come join us as we recognize those lost to substance abuse with a special shoe ceremony, and lift spirits for those still struggling or affected by this terrible disease. Patriotic Service and Bike Blessing with Rolling Thunder

Come join us for this special service for Rolling Thunder followed by a bike blessing and a pot luck picnic at Hambden Township Park. Please bring a dish to pass. Burgers, Hot dogs and a beverage will be provided by the church. Addiction Treatment & Recovery Awareness Program
June 14
Community members are invited to learn more about addiction, treatment, and recovery at an awareness event being held at Portage Community Chapel on Thursday, June 14 from 6-8pm.
Attendees will learn about the drug overdose crisis, the addiction process, and treatment and recovery. Residents of Portage will also be able to receive a free naloxone overdose response kit through Project DAWN. Naloxone is a medication that can reverse an overdose caused by an opioid drug. Speakers include representatives from the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Portage County, Townhall II, the Portage County Health District and the recovery community. Mental Health First Aid Registration
June 18 & 19
On Monday June 18 and Tuesday June 19 Coleman Professional Services and the Mental Health & Recovery Board will offer a Mental Health First Aid training in Ravenna. This 8-hour training course gives people the tools to identify when someone might be struggling with a mental health or substance use problem and to connect them with appropriate support and resources when necessary.

The Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a society of women educators in Geauga County, is offering a grant-in-aid to a female student who is entering her senior year in college and is majoring in education. The applicant must be a graduate of a Geauga County high school. The deadline for completed applications is August 6, 2018.
