Grief Group meets every Sunday at 3 pm. The meetings are held at Garrettsville United Methodist Church and last about 1 – 1 ½ hours. Everyone is welcome. For questions you can call the church at 330-527-2055.

Recovery after Suicide Loss Support Group

If you or someone you know has lost a loved one to suicide, we invite you to attend a free monthly support group to find acceptance, information, and inspiration. The support group meets the last Wednesday of each month at the Kent Free Library located at 312 W. Main Street, Kent from 6:30-8pm. Senior Center Corn Hole Sessions

The Portage County Senior Center is continuing their Corn Hole session each Friday morning. They start playing at 10 and usually wrap up by 11:30. The game is played indoors and there are always lots of laughs, while also getting a little exercise. Seniors are welcome to join in on any Friday. The Portage County Senior Center, located at 705 Oakwood St., in Ravenna has many daily opportunities for local seniors to enjoy. On any given day, you can enjoy, bingo, Tai Chi, educational programs, art class, corn hole, cards & dominos with friends, and they even have a pool table. Calling all 3rd-7th graders!!! We need Dandelion Detectives!The James H. Barrow Biological Field Station is looking for citizen scientists to do a project with the Ohio State University. Hiram Community Band Rehearsals
Hiram Community Band is looking for participants for 2019! Rehearsals are on June 12 (W), 20 (Th) and July 1 (M) from 7-9 at Frohring Hall at Hiram College, with performance at 4PM on the 4th of July. It’s OK if you have to miss one rehearsal. Seeing the Light in Art (Hiram Field Station Camp)

Thursday and Friday, June 13-14, 2019 10:00 a.m.-noon Children ages 6-10 will learn about the use of light in art and incorporate its use as they create nature-themed art. The Portage County Senior Center will be holding their monthly Lunch & Learn event on Friday, June 21st at 11:30. Traditionally, the Alzheimer’s Assn. has encouraged activities around the “Longest Day” to promote reflection on this terrible disease. So in the spirit of helping find a cure, this month’s topic is “Dimentia, starting the conversation” and will be presented by Hospice of the Western Reserve. The lunch is provided by Arbors at Streetsboro. There is no cost but space will fill up quickly, so you’ll need to reserve your spot by calling 330-297-3456. Buckeye Martinfest

The 16th Annual Buckeye Martinfest will take place on Saturday, June 22nd from 1-4 pm. Location is the Portage Lakes area, Purple Martin Capital of Ohio, at the North Reservoir Boat Launch Ramp, 803 State Mill Road off Rt. 93 (Manchester Road). Visitors will learn about Purple Martins, have the opportunity to feed the birds, to hold them and see the birds banded, see babies in their nests, visit tents set up by other community groups, play games, and so much more.
