Farmington Senior Center Breakfasts

Mondays

Senior Center will be open for breakfast Monday mornings 7am to Noon. We will be COVID compliant, so PLEASE call 330-889-2733, as reservations are highly recommended. Temperatures will be taken at the door and anyone reading a temp of 100 deg will be turned away. Call with questions/concerned 330-889-2733.

Wing Night at the Eagles Club

Every Tuesday:wings with purchase of a beverage.Open to public 5:00- 8:00. The Eagles Club is located at 8149 Water Street, Garrettsville. Public Welcome!

Drum Movement Class

Wednesdays

The Portage County Senior Center has begun a new “Drum” movement class to foster simple movements and stretches, all the while having lots of fun to music.  Senior friends currently join together on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 for a simple 25 minute session that can be done sitting or standing.   As attendance increases, a potential Monday or other days will be added.  For more information on this or other programming, they can be reached at 330-297-3456.  They are located at 705 Oakwood St. (Floor G) in Ravenna and are open to all Portage County seniors aged 60 and up.

Bocce League

Thursdays

The Portage County Senior Center has started a new Bocce league that began on Thursday, July 8th at 12noon.  With the generous support of our Ravenna Eagles Club who are allowing us to use their court, Portage County Seniors will now be able to enjoy this popular pasttime.  Any Portage County senior aged 60 and up is welcome to join in, but must be a Senior Center member.  For further information, the senior center can be reached at 330-297-3456.

The Freedom Community & Park Boosters is hosting a Christmas in July Craft and Vendor Show on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The show will be held at the Freedom Community Park located at 6836 Streeter Rd., Mantua, 44255 (corners of St. Rt. 700 and Streeter Rd.) Vacation Bible School

Birthday Celebrations!

The Portage County Senior Center will celebrate all July-Sept. Birthdays with cake, ice cream and bingo on Wednesday, July 14th.  The fun starts at 9:30 and bingo ends at 12:00.  Seating is limited so sign-up is required to insure your spot.   The Portage County Senior Center is located at 705 Oakwood St. (Floor G) in Ravenna and is open to all Portage seniors aged 60 and up.  Please call 330-297-3456 for more information on this and other activities offered.

Mayfield Church Rummage Sale

A Rummage Sale will be held at the Mayfield United Methodist Church, 7747 Mayfield Rd., Chesterland.  

The hours are: Thursday, July 15 – 8 am Early Bird Special – $10 No charge for admittance for rest of sale.Thursday, July 15, (9 am – 6 pm)Friday, July 16, (9 am – 3 pm)The sale has something for everyone.

Explore and preserve nature by creating leaf rubbings! Led by Ranger Elizabeth, this program will have you learning leaf shapes and functions, while also creating some art to take home. “Knights of North Castle” VBS

July 19-23

“Knights of North Castle” Vacation Bible School will be held at Wayland Community Church, 6355 Wayland Road, (Paris Twp.) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., July 19 – 23.  Knight’s of North Castle (quest for the King’s armor) invites children to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of God’s power, based on Ephesians 6:10-20.  All children age 3 through those who have finished grade 6 are welcome.  There is no charge to attend.  Everyone is invited to the closing program Friday, July 23 at 6:00 p.m., followed by the “end of VBS” picnic.  For more information call Anna at 330-654-2006 or Debbie at 330-358-2638.

Pool Table Ribbon Cutting

The Portage County Senior Center is celebrating their “new” slate pool table with an official Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony to take place at 10a.m. on Tuesday July 27th.  Any senior who is interested in playing pool is encouraged to come and join us.  Following the games, we will hold a pizza party courtesy of Inn at the Pines Assisted Living in Hiram, and Patriot at Home Health Care.  There is no cost but sign-up is mandatory as space is limited.  Seniors generally play pool each day from 9-12 but are open to other times if there is interest.  Any senior is welcome whether a novice or a pro.  For more information the Senior Center can be reached at 330-297-3456.

Huntsburg Grange Concert

Huntsburg Grange concerts are back. July 31 with True Country featuring Jim Hein from 6 to 8 PM in Gazebo park, corner 528 and 322. Food available. 50/50 raffle and cake walk. Bring lawn chair. Held rain or shine.
