Lake Milton Farmers Market
Saturdays

Lake Milton Farmers Market is held Saturday mornings 9am to noon waterfront at Lake Milton State Park.  You will find us on the Amphitheater lawn on Grandview Road.  If you are a Farmer or Artist interested in participating, please send an email to natureartscouncil@yahoo.com with your name, phone number, email and info regarding the items you would like to offer for sale.  Our Farmers will have a look and get back to you.

Zucchini Cookbooks

Southington Garden Club is selling a cookbook of 500 recipes using zucchini. The cookbook has recipes from appetizers to desserts all using zucchini.  The cost is $13.00 including postage. Garfield (at any point), or Freedom, Nelson or Garrettsville Schools prior to the 1951 consolidation…. you are our alumni and we’d love to have you attend the 10th Annual Alumni Banquet. Charity Horse Show

July 17, 18, 19

Portage County Charity Horse Show will be July 17th-19th at Sun Beau Valley Farm, 3229 St. Rt. 59 in Ravenna. Cost is $5 (all day), children under 12 attend free.

Hot Diggity Dog Day

July 18

Legacy Dog Rescue, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, will be holding Hot Diggity Dog Day on July 18th at Lil Paws Winery, 17574 Mahoning Ave., Lake Milton OH from 1-6pm.  $5.00 for 5 hot dog tastes paired up with 5 wine tastes!  Many hot dog toppings such as BLT hot dogs, Sloppy Joe Dog, Mexican dog, Buffalo Chicken dog and more!  Veggie dogs will be served as well!  There will also be a Chinese Auction!  Call Paula @ 330-720-0470 with questions!  Pease come out and support our efforts to help the abused, neglected and abandoned dogs of Trumbull & Mahoning County.

Rockwell Int’l Annual Picnic

Rockwell International annual picnic at Braceville Picnic Shelter will be July 18th from noon-3pm. We will be eating at 1pm. Please bring a covered dish to share.

Ice Cream Social

July 18

Lordstown Lutheran Church will hold an Ice Cream Social on July 18th from 4-6pm.  There will be turkey sandwiches, sloppy joes, hot dogs, baked beans, macaroni salad, homemade pies & ice cream.  A bake sale will also be held. The church is located at 5615 Palmyra Rd. in Lordstown.

Moth Night at the Hiram College Field Station

Bring a flashlight and a camera and join us at 9:00pm as we celebrate National Moth Week. Discover the nightly flight of these fascinating insects and learn how citizens around the world are helping to learn more about moths and our changing environment. Steak & Chicken Dinner

American Legion Post 674, Windham, Ohio, will be having a steak and chicken dinner on July 18th from 4-8pm. Presale tickets are available; steak $13 or $15 at the door or chicken $8 or $10 at the door. Proceeds go towards the Windham Veterans Monument.

Canoe Trip Down The Cuyahoga

July 19

Come join Volunteer Naturalist Joe Malmisur  on July 19 from 1 – 5 pm as we float down the beautiful Crooked River. Community Center Open

July 21 & 28

The Community Center at Mantua Center is open to the public every Tuesday from 9:30 till about 2:00, free and open to all.  Sewing projects and watercolor painting continue to attract interest, and there’s always a jigsaw puzzle under construction.  Or just come to sit and chat.  Potluck lunches at noon have been delicious, with a bountiful variety of food shared each week.  The “Don’t Eat Alone Supper” has dwindled and may be cancelled if there isn’t more interest.  Call Ellie at 330-274-0711 to let her know if you want to keep it going.

Come for an outdoor evening concert at the Burton Public Library July 22nd at 6:30pm as Leonardo, the “Guitar Hero”, dazzles us with an interactive and jammin’ good time (in the event of inclement weather, this concert will take place inside).

Campfire Storytime

Open House

Come see the newly renovated Windham Community Center at the Open House on July 24th from 6-8pm. The Community Center is located at 9647 Center St. in Windham.  Refreshments will be provided.

Trash & Treasure Sale

Parkman Congregational Church Annual Trash & Treasure Sale will be July 24th from 9-5 and July 25th from 9-3. Items on Saturday will be half price from 9-noon and “free” from 12:30-3. The church is located at 18265 Madison Road – 528 just north of 422 – Parkman, OH. Refreshments available – Lots of great items. We are taking donations until Tuesday July 21st.

Mantua Center free clothing giveaway will be July 25th from 9-noon. Plenty of clothing will be available in all sizes and both genders. Our location has changed!  We are now in the old Mantua Center School. You will enter on the North side of the school (the door where the ramp is), go downstairs, turn right and we are in 2 rooms in the first hallway. See you there!

Grant-In-Aid-Program

The Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a society of women educators in Geauga County, is offering a grant-in-aid to a female student who is entering her senior year in college and is majoring in education. The Garrettsville Curtains up Theatre will present “A Slim Chance for a Jumbo Murder”  on August 8, 2015 inside Slim n Jumbos – 8105 Main Street. The cost is $25.00 per person and included a buffet dinner and the mystery. There will be a cash bar and Chinese auction. Doors open at 6pm the event begins at 6:30pm. Red, White And Blueberry

Members of the North Bloomfield Historical Society will hold an open house at the society’s home, the 1893 Town Hall, on the square in N. Bloomfield on Sunday, August 9 from 2pm to 4pm.  Local blueberries will be featured in many forms with pies, muffins, ice cream with blueberry topping and other sweet treats available for a donation.  The model of the town center as it looked in 1915 will be on exhibit along with toy tractors from a private collector.  2015 is the bicentennial of the settlement of the township and the event is part of the yearlong remembrance of its history.

3rd Annual Compassion in Motion Motorcycle Charity Ride

Please consider joining us for the 3rd Annual Compassion in Motion Motorcycle Charity Ride to benefit Wags 4 Warriors, of Brecksville, OH on Saturday, August 1, 2015. This fundraiser is led by Hands & Paws in Gratitude, a service organization which raises funds for various projects involving individuals and animals. Hands & Paws in Gratitude chose Wags 4 Warriors, as they felt this to be a very worthy fundraiser with a great need. The Wags 4 Warriors mission is to unite veterans whom, upon returning home suffer with PTSD or TBI, with an appropriate dog, and to provide all of the training, equipment and support for the dog to become the veteran’s service dog at no cost to the veteran.

Through your involvement in this charity ride, you will aid in the placement of a service animal with a veteran in need. The cost is $25 for riders and $10 for each passenger. This fee includes a delicious lunch following the ride. Our grand prize raffle is a 65” Curved HD TV (if all tickets are sold) $10.00 a ticket, there will also be a 50/50 raffle, a DJ and awesome prizes. Registration begins at 9:30AM at Carlton Harley-Davidson, located at 11771 St. Rt. 44, Mantua, OH 44255. Please join us for the ride and meet our heroes and their service dogs.
