Portage Senior Citizens Opportunities
Weekdays
The Portage County Senior Center, located at 705 Oakwood St., in Ravenna has many daily opportunities for local seniors to enjoy. On any given day, you can enjoy, bingo, Tai Chi, educational programs, art class, corn hole, cards & dominos with friends, and they even have a pool table. They serve lunch daily (by reservation) and are open M-F from 9-3. If you would like more information you may call them at 330-297-3456.

The Phyllis Zumkehr Portage County Clothing Center, which is located at 3377 State Route 59, Ravenna, is looking for volunteers to help with sorting, hanging and stocking clothing and helping customers. Hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m.If you are interested in volunteering, contact Veronica Williamson at 330-819-9760 or email fourwildwinds@yahoo.com.

Kindergarten Registration

The James A. Garfield School District is taking reservations for Kindergarten registration for children that will turn age 5 before August 1, 2019. Registration will take place at the Elementary on Thursday, March 21, Friday, March 22 and Monday, March 25, 2019. Learn to Swim with the Waterdawgs
Register Today!
The Hiram College Swim Team is offering swim lessons January 13, 20, 27 & February 3, 10 (choose 2:00pm, 3:00pm, or 4:00pm). Each lesson is 35 minutes with 10 minutes of free time afterward. Cost is $60 for the entire session. To register, email sorrickmw@hiram.edu or phone 330.569.5343.

Grief Support Group
Sundays
Grief Group meets every Sunday at 3 pm. The meetings are held at Garrettsville United Methodist Church and last about 1 – 1 ½ hours. Everyone is welcome. For questions you can call the church at 330-527-2055.

Mondays
Men on Mondays, a men’s Bible study, is held every Monday from 6:45 – 8 pm at the Cellar Door Coffee Shop in Garrettsville. Coffee and pastry will be provided at no charge.

Families Anonymous Meetings

Do you have a family member controlled by drugs or alcohol and don’t know where to turn? Families Anonymous might be the support group you need. Senior Corn Hole League

The Portage County Senior Center will be starting up their winter Corn Hole league on Friday, January 4th at 10a.m. The seniors set up inside where it is safe and all Portage County seniors are welcome. They’ll join for a short 6-week league, when they then follow with their “Wii” bowling league. Burton Christmas Bird Count

On Saturday, January 5, 9:30 AM-12:30 PM come to the warm, cozy West Woods lobby and help park staff/volunteers count birds at the feeders for the Burton Christmas Bird Count. Our results will be included in the count data for the day. Each year, tens of thousands of volunteers throughout the Americas take part in this long-running wildlife census to assess the health of bird populations. This data is used by Audubon and other organizations to help guide conservation action. Wheelchair/stroller accessible.

Lions Club Pancake Breakfast
