Weekdays
The Portage County Senior Center, located at 705 Oakwood St., in Ravenna has many daily opportunities for local seniors to enjoy. On any given day, you can enjoy, bingo, Tai Chi, educational programs, art class, corn hole, cards & dominos with friends, and they even have a pool table. They serve lunch daily (by reservation) and are open M-F from 9-3. If you would like more information you may call them at 330-297-3456.
Grief Support Group
Sundays
Grief Group meets every Sunday at 3 pm. The meetings are held at Garrettsville United Methodist Church and last about 1 – 1 ½ hours. Everyone is welcome. For questions you can call the church at 330-527-2055.

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter makes Alzheimer’s caregiver support groups available free of charge, open to all caregivers, family members, and friends with a loved one affected by the disease or another form of dementia. First Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m., UH Portage Medical Center, 6847 North Chestnut St. (Room A), Ravenna. Groups meet monthly. Recovery after Suicide Loss Support Group

If you or someone you know has lost a loved one to suicide, we invite you to attend a free monthly support group to find acceptance, information, and inspiration. The support group meets the last Wednesday of each month at the Kent Free Library located at 312 W. Main Street, Kent from 6:30-8pm. Free Model Train Display

The North Bloomfield Historical Society presents its 7th Holiday Model Train Display at the 1893 Town Hall, 8830 Park Drive on the square in N Bloomfield. The display is free and will be open in December on Wednesdays from 5pm to 8p and Saturdays from 2pm to 5pm. Closed Christmas Day. More than 350 square feet of layout feature a summer village and a separate 2 level winter setup. The popular scavenger hunt will return along with free popcorn, cookies and drinks. There is no cost for this service, but all donations received are given to the People Tree to help others in our area. The Hiram Historical Society is holding its December First Saturday Open House on Saturday December 7, 2019. Does anyone remember receiving a ViewMaster and reels under the Christmas tree back in the 1950s? There will be a hands-on display of these which both adults and children will enjoy. 5th Annual Parade of Light & Polar Express Christmas Celebration on Sunday Dec. 8, 2019 at the Village of Windham Community Center. Parade will line up at the Dollar General Store at 5:30 pm. Parade will kick off at 6:00 pm. Parade route will begin at the Dollar General Store, head down N. Main St., turn left and will end at the Community Center where at that time you can grab a “Golden Ticket” and ride the Polar Express.
