Parkman 55+ Seniors
First Thursday of Month
Please join area seniors over 55 for a monthly gathering on the first Thursday at the Parkman Community Center at 11:30 am. The gathering includes a pot luck lunch, socializing and various programs such as entertainment, informational lectures, and field trips. Also, open to non-Geauga County residents.

Mantua Farmers’ Market Pre-Season Sales

The Mantua Farmers Market begins with 3 Pre-Season Plant and Miscellaneous Sales on May 21, 28, and June 4 – 9am to 1 pm – at Christ Lutheran Church, 10827 N Main Street, Mantua. Regular Season begins July 9 and ends September 24. Sales will be held on the upper parking lot of the church due to work on the lower lot. Cost is $5.00 per date. Portage County District Library (PCDL) will be closed Monday, May 30, in honor of Memorial Day. All branches and offices will resume normal library service hours Tuesday, May 31. Mantua Historical Societ Program

The Mantua Historical Society’s next program will be Monday, June 13 at 6:00pm in the Mantua Township Town Hall located at 4122 State Route 82, Mantua, OH 44255. Larry Carver will show a Power Point presentation on the “Mormon History in Early Portage Co.” Our meetings are free & open to the public. Refreshments will be served. A short business meeting will follow & our museum will be open.

Program on Freedom’s Dew Drop Inn

Freedom Township Historical Society will host “Dew Drop Inn and Tavern Days” with Margaret Garmon at 7 pm June 14 at the Freedom Picnic Pavilion, 8966 S.R. 700 (right across from the town hall). Margaret is the daughter of John and Margaret Murvay who operated the Dew Drop in in Drakesburg during the 1950s. Margaret, who is a former Record-Courier columnist and a retired journalism and communications professor at Kent State University, will take a fond look back at growing up as the tavern owner’s daughter.

Chardon Polka Band Worship, Concert, and Picnic Benefit

Come enjoy the Chardon Polka Band as they lead a polka-style worship service as only they can do at Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road, Chardon on Sunday. June 26, 2022 beginning at 9:30 a.m. Following the worship service, the Chardon Polka Band will be in concert from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. During this time, a free picnic-style lunch will be provided by members of Celebration. Those attending are encouraged to bring children (there will be activities for them) and also to bring lawn chairs.
Donations will be accepted during the worship service and concert to benefit Keira, an eleven year old amputee from Aurora, Ohio. For additional information, please contact Paul at 440-897-0121.
