Loaves and Fishes Community Meal

Free meal is open to all residents in Mantua,Hiram,Garrettsville and surrounding areas. Anyone who needs to stretch their food dollars or even if you just love a homemade meal. Shalersville Hist Society Yard Sale

The BEST YARD SALE EVER IS quickly approaching. Mark your calendars for Labor Day Weekend Saturday Sept 4 – Monday Sept 6. The Shalersville Historical Society has received tons of new unique and unusual items for this yard sale including American Indian items, western art and sculpture, unique cacti made from glass, a pair of tan chaps & western riding shirts that are a small size – probably child’s 8 or 10 (that’s my guess!). This is not your normal yard sale! The sale will be held at our museum on Rt 44 near the intersection with Rt 303 from 9AM to 4PM Saturday through Monday. Program on Freedom’s Railroad History

Freedom Township Historical Society will host a program on the railroad history of Freedom Township at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 14, at the picnic pavilion across from the Freedom Town Hall, 8966 S.R. 700. Train historian Phillip McCoy will present a PowerPoint that features stories and photos of how the railway changed Freedom and share detailed drawings of the Freedom Station depot. Attendees are invited to bring their train memorabilia to share. This is an outdoors event and is free and open to the public.
Square Dance Lessons
Starting Sept 14
A new year of weekly square dance lessons will begin Sept 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. Each lesson builds upon the previous session and will include learning new steps along with plenty of review and practice each week to help attendees master the moves. The Tuesday evening sessions will run weekly through April 12, 2022 at the Niles SCOPE Center. History Tour in Garrettsville

The James A Garfield Historical Society is sponsoring a “ Mystery of our History” Tour on Saturday, Oct. 2 between 10am and 2 pm, starting at the Historcal Society Building on Main St. The tour will include the highlights of our history, starting on Main Street at the Mott Building and advancing on Main Street to St. Ambrose Church, to Park Avenue and ending at the Baptist Cemetery on Maple Ave. The tour is being provided by the Historical Society to help raise funds for the further restoration of the Baptist Cemetery on Maple Ave.
