2016 Turkey Raffle Cancelled
The Mantua-Shalersville Firefighters Association 2016 Turkey Raffle will not be held this year. Members of the firefighters association agreed to pull the plug on the annual event which has been held since 1944 due to a variety of issues. We thank area merchants and individuals that have supported this event for the past 70 years.

Mantua Christmas Tour of Homes

Mantua Christmas Tour of Homes sponsored by the Rotary Club of Mantua will be Nov 13th from 4-8pm, Nov 14th from 10am-5pm and Nov 15th from 12:30-5pm. Four decorated homes. Antique Tractor Association Awards Banquet

Columbiana County Antique Tractor Association is holding their Awards Banquet on Nov 14th. It will be held at the Mile Branch Grange Hall; 495 Knox School Road, Alliance, OH at 6:30pm. Awards will be given to the top three pullers in each class. All pullers and their families are invited. Door prizes will be given out and there will be a raffle for the top prize of the night. The 2nd annual Cub Scouts Holiday Craft Show will be held Nov 14th from 10am-4pm at the First Congregational Church; 612 W. Broad St., Newton Falls. This event is hosted by the Parents of Pack 4067 of Newton Falls. There will be a basket raffle, refreshments and a collection of non-perishable items. All money raised will benefit the Pack for camping trips, supplies, etc.

Shannon Jursa and her State Farm Team are hosting the 2nd Annual Pictures with Santa event on Nov 15th from 2-5pm at the Garrettsville YMCA, which will allow us to comfortably accommodate many more families. This is a free event, digital images will be provided via email to all participating families. We will once again have Top Tier Pastry cookies and refreshments for our families. Tom Schama from Hiram will be our photographer this year. This event is 100% funded by my Agency.

On Nov 16th at 10:45 am Dr J Patella will be offering the second half of the film It’s a Wonderful Life, a 1946 American Christmas fantasy drama film starring Jimmy Steward and Donna Reed, produced and directed by Frank Capra, based on the short story “The Greatest Gift”, written by Philip Van Doren Stern. The film is now considered one of the most popular films in American cinema and has become traditional viewing during the Christmas season. Leonids Meteor Shower

Join our Sky Ranger Guy Gillespie to view the annual Leonids Meteor Shower on Nov 17th at 7pm at Morgan Preserve. We will get to see the buildup to the peak of this shower, producing a maximum of perhaps 10-15 meteors per hour. The peak of the shower should be around 11pm-1am. Park at the SR 44 lot, on the east side of the road, 1/2 mile south of SR 303, Shalersville Township.

The parents of Girl Scout Troop #124 will be holding their 3rd Annual Craft Show fundraiser on Nov 21st from 10-4 at the Newton Falls Community Center, 52 E. Quarry St., Newton Falls, OH. The show will feature homemade wreaths, jewelry, greeting cards, hair bows, knitted/crochet dish towels, hats/scarves, quilts, theme chairs, jams, candy, honey and Newton Twp. Cemetery Assn. 2016 calendars. There will be a Girl Scout Bake Sale, 50/50 raffle, and basket raffle at the show. Crafts for kids to make & take for a non-perishable food donation for a local food pantry. Santa will be visiting from 12 noon to 2 pm. Free admission & handicap accessible.

Mantua Center free clothing giveaway will be Oct 24th from 9-noon in the old Mantua Center School building. You will enter the back side of the building, go down the stairs, turn right into hallway. Chance Auction at Bristol Elementary

The Bristol Elementary sixth grade class will be holding its annual Chance Auction on Nov.13 in the elementary cafeteria. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and winners will be drawn at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $3.00 and includes 10 free regular auction tickets.
