Upcoming Area Memorial Day Services

Bainbridge Township
Bainbridge Township will honor Memorial Day with a parade and service on Sunday, May 28th. The parade will begin at Bainbridge Commons at 11:30am and proceed to Restland Cemetery for the service. This year’s speaker will be William O’Neill, Retired Lt. Colonel of the Ohio Army National Guard.

Garrettsville Village
The Village of Garrettsville will honor Memorial Day on Monday, May 29th, with a 9:00am service at the Maple Avenue veterans memorial. The annual parade will step off from the memorial following the service, the route travels up Main Street, and proceeding onto Center Street toward Park Cemetery. At 10:30am a service will be provided at the Park Cemetery veterans memorial. Speakers include: Rev. David Gray, Iva Walker, retired veteran John Kable, mayor Rick Patrick, and Mike Carlson.

Hiram Village
Hiram Village’s annual Memorial Day parade and ceremony will take place in on Monday, May 29th at noon. The parade begins at the Hiram Christian Church (6868 Wakefield Road) and will procced west to Fairview Cemetery (at the corners of Wakefield and Ryder Roads) for a Memorial Day ceremony. This year’s keynote speech will be given by LTC Barnard S. Kemter (USA, Retired). The National Anthem will be sung by Hiram College Emerita, Damaris Peters-Pike. Attendees at Hiram’s remembrance are invited to a public reception at Hiram College’s Koritansky Hall where light refreshments will be served.

Nelson Township
Due to a shortage of available Honor Guard members, Nelson Township residents are encouraged to attend services in neighboring communities this year.
