United Way of Portage County Awards Grant to Offer Dinner for Front-Line Workers

2291

Ravenna  –United Way of Portage County (UWPC) continues to support the needs our community during this health emergency. UWPC and The NEW Center team up to provide dinner for front-line workers in Portage County. The NEW Center at NEOMED was awarded $840 to feed dinner to University Hospital staff in Ravenna, as well as Rootstown’s Fire Department and EMT, and volunteers.

“Thank you from everyone at UH Portage Medical Center for your generous donation of dinner as we care for the community during this time of crisis,” Bill Benoit, President, UH Portage Medical Center.

In April, The NEW Center culinary staff prepared pasta, sausage, salad, rolls, dessert and more for the staff at University Hospital Portage Medical Center and Rootstown Fire Station. Staff from UWPC and The NEW Center dropped off the meals at each location. About 300 individuals were able to enjoy the meal. “Thank you so much for your donation. We fed everyone in the building plus had some for night shift. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive from everyone! The food was truly delicious!” said Dan Cline, Operations Manager, Nutrition Services, University Hospitals Portage Medical Center.

United Way of Portage County is dedicated to supporting our local communities through the COVID-19 pandemic. We are delighted to assist our partners in offering front-line workers with a home-made meal to show our gratitude for all the work they are doing. To all those willing to sacrifice their own safety and well-being in this crisis, we are grateful.

To help fund more projects like this and others, UWPC welcomes all contributions to the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund. Donations can be made at https://www.uwportage.org/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=1
