The Twentieth Century Club of Garrettsville completed its journey through the Dewey Decimal System, fittingly, at the Garrettsville branch of the Portage County District Library, with the 900’s, history and geography.  Roll call was answered by enlightening the group as to what  each would take on  the way to a particular destination.  Some were practical, some were fanciful, some were apprehensive (“Going to hell in a handbasket…”).

There was introduction of the officers for the 2014-2015 club year: president, Patricia Amor; vice-president, Jane Bell; secretary, Mary Furillo; treasurer. Leah Schultz.   Arrangements for the annual Spring Party—April 24 at Cal’s II at 6:30—were finalized.

Lucy Galayde presented the program, a re-cap of the system itself, from Generalities in the 000’s through Philosophy & Psychology, Religion, Social Sciences, Language, Science, Technology, Arts & Recreation, Literature, all to way to History & Geography(It ends with Extraterrestrial Worlds).  She then went on to illustrate some of the interesting facets of History and Geography that can be found under the main topics.  A group attempt at completing a crossword puzzle review of the system and its features turned into an exercise in entertainment with errors.  Computers will getcha every time.

Light refreshments offered by the co-hostesses, Lucy Galayde, Jane Bell and Jeanette Marvin Hall , brought the evening to a close.
