Nearly a full complement of members of the Twentieth Century Club of Garrettsville met at the home of Mary Furillo for the annual Christmas party on December 16, 2021.

The roll call response for the evening was to recount a favorite part of Christmas celebrations both past and present. This elicited memories, tales and traditions of all sorts from fascination with mysterious wrapped packages to “forever” fruitcakes…or not.

The treasurer’s report indicated a healthy balance of $629.76, and was accepted. Sunshine missives will be going out to the family of Diane Rodhe and to Jane Hill. The next regular meeting will be at the home of Kathy Countryman. Because of a cancellation, there will be a change of program for this meeting. Roll call response will be to name a favorite pastry. It was suggested that the club donate a book to the PCDL in memory of Diane Rodhe; this will be under consideration.

Motion to adjourn was made by Karen Ziarko, seconded by Gale Lane

The program for the evening consisted of exchanging gift-filled socks and cards through a lottery system interrupted by much laughter. The socks were subsequently sent off–many of them to a local group providing services to the homeless and disadvantaged; the filling gifts went home with members. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess and her helpers. The thought for the evening, in the program booklet was, “Always take some of the play, fun, freedom, and wonder of the weekend into the week and your work.”–Rasheed Ogunlaru. Good for any time of year and any holiday. Merry Christmas to all.
