The October 17, 2024 meeting of the Twentieth Century Club of Garrettsville was held at the home of Nasreen Kitko and focussed on music, with the roll call response being “My Favorite Song” and the program presented by Karen Miller illustrating tunes from her childhood memories of the movies. Principal flicks included “Snow White”, “Cinderella”, “Sleeping Beauty”, “Mary Poppins” and “Jungle Book”. The keynote melodies included “Whistle While You Work”, ”Hi Ho, Hi Ho”, “Bippity Boppity Boo”, “Superfragilisticexpialidocious” and “Bare Necessities”, while illustrating technical and stylistic changes in the industry and audiences from 1937 to 1967. The vocal & keyboard renditions by the presenter brought back memories in the audience and discussions of similar experiences. Most interesting.
The business meeting included the annual reading of the constitution and by-laws of the club, accompanied by discussion and changes (Minutes, venues for future meetings, communication issues) as well as the treasurer’s report. The Donation Box received its due. The seasonal refreshments offered by the hostess and co- hostesses Sharon Miller and Shirley Danku were well-received. Next meeting will be on November 14.
