On Saturday, June 7th, outdoor enthusiasts of all ages will convene in Mantua to celebrate summer and the three major trails that wind through the community.
The first event — the Headwaters Adventure Race – kicks off at 8 am in Buchert Park. Competitors of all ages will convene on Buchert Park to run two miles along the Headwaters Trail, bike 10 miles along scenic (and hilly) roads throughout Mantua and Hiram, and then paddle 5 miles along the Cuyahoga River back to Buchert Park in Mantua. The event is sponsored by the Portage Park District Foundation. To enter as an individual or team, visit the Portage Park District website.
The Triple Trail Fest is named for the three trails: Headwaters Trail, the Buckeye Trail, and the Cuyahoga River Scenic Water Trail, which wind through the historic village. As such, the festival features adventures including hiking, running, biking, and paddling.
But there are plenty of kids’ activities and family fun too, including great Storytelling, a scavenger hunt and a kid’s corner. Triple Trail Fest is loaded with fun for the whole family! Check out the Kid’s Corner for games, temporary tattoos, games, and scavenger hunts.
You’ll have the opportunity to listen to storytellers, take a family-friendly walk, or do yoga in the park. Join Scenic Rivers and Portage Park District on a guided nature paddle down the Cuyahoga River. Educators will provide nature interpretation, pointing out the flora and fauna that call the river home. Or join Chief Ranger Kevin Nietert from the Portage Park District for a scenic bike ride along the Headwaters Trail during the Triple Trail Fest. As you pedal, Ranger Nietert will share insights about the area’s natural history and points of interest along the trail, offering a unique blend of outdoor recreation and education. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the beauty of the trail with an experienced guide. Families are welcome but please note this ride will cover the whole trail, which is 8.5 miles one way. Feel free to turn back when you are ready, and the trail will let you right back to the festival!
Back at the Park, DJ Nicole Nero will keep the crowd entertained all day. Then at 4 pm, Starship Truckers will take the stage providing a versatile blend of rock ‘n roll, classic rock, southern rock, pop, and country tunes. Sand volleyball tournament, cornhole, a bonfire and the ever-popular rubber duck race on the river make this an event with something for everyone.
Food trucks, including Pink Pig BBQ, Freaky Fruits, Crestwood Lions, and Good Earth Roasters keep Triple Trail Fest participants fed and caffeinated all day long. Local breweries including Pompatus, North Water, Double Wing, Bummin’ Beaver, and Bell Tower Brewing Company will be on hand as well.
“We’re excited to bring the community together again to celebrate everything that makes summer in Northeast Ohio special,” said Edie Benner, event organizer.
“Triple Trail Fest is about adventure, connection, and enjoying the beauty of Mantua’s trails and waterways.”
