On behalf of the Garrettsville Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, I would like to address some of the rumors being spread in our community.
Absolutely NO payments/payouts/monies/etc. have been dispersed from either the Garrettsville Area Chamber of Commerce’s account, or the GarrettsvilleStrong fund. NO disbursements of any kind will occur until firm guidelines have been put in place for doing so, and those guidelines have been reviewed and approved by our legal counsel. If you’ve heard otherwise, you were misled.
Absolutely nobody on our board has been in contact to make any sort of promises to anyone regarding the GarrettsvilleStrong fund. If you’ve heard otherwise, you were misled.
The Chamber of Commerce Board met Wednesday, April 2nd to discuss the GarrettsvilleStrong fund. Below is the mission statement for the fund.
Mission Statement: The GarrettsvilleStrong fund was established to raise funds which will be utilized to facilitate the rebuilding of the block in downtown Garrettsville affected by the fire March 22, 2014. This area is located on Main Street between Center and High Streets
In the coming weeks we will be working with the Ohio Attorney General and our legal counsel to establish our guidelines going forward.
Remember that rebuilding our historic district will be a monumental task. Fund-raising through GarrettsvilleStrong will be a marathon and not a sprint to the finish.
Please help quash any rumors you may hear on the street as they only serve to undermine our community spirit; rumors can also have a devastating impact on our ability to help rebuild what was lost.
