Dogs and their humans, join us for one, two or three Hound Hikes this fall with Naturalist Karie – no registration required! Participants of any hike will also get some tips from our friends at Cold Nose Companions Dog Training and take home a keepsake “Adventure Ready” dog scarf to remember it by.
This season’s hikes are Sunday, October 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. (a medium-level, 1.2-mile hike at Swine Creek Reservation); Sunday, November 23, from 10 to 11 a.m. (a medium-level, 2-mile hike at The West Woods); and Sunday, December 21, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. (a winter solstice hike at The West Woods).
Before coming out, please pack your own bowl with water, poop scoop or bags for clean-up, and towels for paws before they reach the car seats. Only one dog is permitted to attend per handler, pets must be kept under control at all times on a leash not exceeding eight feet, and participants displaying aggression or excessive barking will be asked to leave.
“Cold Nose Companions typically gives a brief five-minute introduction to start us off about who they are and what they offer,” Naturalist Karie said, “then they offer a great piece of advice that participants and their dogs can try out as they hike.”
