Bruce Abraham, and his team at Charles Auto Family recently celebrated the Grand Re-Opening of the newly remodeled Charles Chevrolet. Hundreds of local residents, and customers — past and present — were on hand for a day filled with great food, family activities, and entertainment by K-105. Attendees also had the opportunity to enter drawings for a ton of great prizes.
Coming up, area residents will be treated to a theatrical “double-feature” so to speak, when show biz rears its fascinating head as Damaris Peters Pike brings “Irving Berlin—A Daughter Remembers” to the stage of the Iva Walker Auditorium at the James A. Garfield Middle School. The performance, sponsored by the Charles Auto Family, will benefit the Garrettsville Curtains Up Theater and will be presented at 7:00 pm on October 16. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Charles Auto Family’s newly- remodeled place of business on North St., Garrettsville, or at the door.
On the following Wednesday, October 23, Two lovely ladies—Women of Note—invite the community to “Thanks for the Memories—A Visit with Delores Hope” and “Que Sera, Sera—Remembering Doris Day” at the Kennedy Center, Hiram College. Proceeds of admission will go to benefit the 4 C’s Food Pantry and the event sponsor is Hiram College. This concluding double-header event will be followed by desserts and beverages. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at the door

On October 12, the Nelson Garrettsville Community Cupboard will be holding a Fill the Fire Truck Food Drive at Sky Plaza IGA from 9am to 3pm. All food and monies collected will go directly to the Nelson Garrettsville Community Cupboard. You can make a difference in the lives of people who are hungry!!!! Together we can shut the door on hunger in our community.
The Bi-Annual Business Showcase will be held on October 17 from 5-8 pm at the Garfield High School gymnasium. The community is invited to come out and visit with over 60 area businesses, groups and organizations.
The James A Garfield Historical Society will be presenting a Mystery of our History Tour. A guided walking tour through downtown Garrettsville led by characters from our history takes place on October 18 and 19, from 6-9 p.m. Tickets are available for $10. Contact Debbie Smith at 330-389-1859.
For those who would like to take in a bit of mystery while helping to raise funds for a great cause: Curtains-up Theater’s murder mystery dinner show is the show for you. ‘Murder at the Masquerade Ball’ will take place at 6:00 pm on Saturday, November 2 at the Mantua Knights of Columbus Hall.
