Thelma Jane (Fountain) Schwan, 85 years of age, passed away May 28, 2024 at Ohman Family Living at Briar in Middlefield Ohio . She was mother to Dianna Schwan Savick, Jeffery (Rhonda) Schwan, Robert (Lisa) Schwan Jr., Karen (Robert) Burrows, and Delores “Dee” Schwan.
Thelma was born January 15, 1939 in North Olmsted, Ohio to the late Norbert and Vera (Spencer) Fountain. She was the youngest of three sisters (the late Lela Lowder and Eunice Taylor). She grew up in Windham, Ohio on the family farm and graduated from Windham High School in 1957. She married Robert Schwan that same year and started their 60-year life journey together creating a loving home and multiple successful businesses.
Known for her love of painting and devotion to family, Thelma will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A talented artist since her first art lessons in the 1960’s, she leaves behind a rich portfolio of works with subjects including lighthouses, covered bridges, gardens, seascapes, and many others. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert in 2018. A very devoted mother and grandmother, she leaves behind five children, ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren that will miss her dearl y.
In lieu of flowers and memorial gifts, donations may be given to the Western Reserve Hospice. Thelma was a lover of birds and gardening for many years, all who wish to honor her life are invited to add a bird feeder or plant a hydrangea at their home.
