Garrettsville – Excellent production of Neil Simon’s “The Dinner Party” by Curtains Up Theatre:  Stylishly minimal set evoking a private dining room in a Parisian restaurant.  Well-drilled and competent cast portraying everything from cluelessness to irony with great comedic effect.  An unexpected denouement exposing some of the many facets of marriage…and divorce.  Believable props.  Adult, but not objectionable, language and themes are part of the total effect that Simon is famous for.  Laughing aloud and the occasional tear are all part of the experience  Of added interest was the group of ASL interpreters, signing for the hearing-impaired (led  by ODE-ASL certified instructor, Kim Bass, Center St. resident).  As is frequently the case, this is an artform in and of itself.

Congratulations to the cast and crew.

Final performances will be on January 18 and 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the Iva Walker Auditorium at Garfield H.S./M.S.

All tickets may be purchased at the door – Adults, $10.00 (over 12); seniors and children under 12, $7.00 and groups of 15 or more, $5.00.  Don’t miss it.
