The Aurora Memorial Library’s Teen Writers’ Circle will welcome special guest, poet Dave Lucas, on Saturday, April 20 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Lucas, who was named the second Poet Laureate of Ohio in 2018, will share his poetry and offer participants a writing challenge at this event, which is open to all local teens.
A native Clevelander, Lucas studied literature and poetry at John Carroll University and the University of Virginia, and went on to receive his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 2014. His first book of poems, Weather, received the 2012 Ohioana Book Award for Poetry. Named by Rita Dove as one of thirteen “young poets to watch,” he has also received a “Discovery/The NationPrize and a Cleveland Arts Prize. A co-founder of Cleveland Book Week and Brews + Prose at Market Garden Brewery, he lives in Cleveland, where he teaches at Case Western Reserve University.
