Mantua – In early November, the Mantua Restoration Society, Inc.,(MaRSI) held its last fund raiser of the year at the Mantua Center School building. As a fundraiser, the potluck dinner also included a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and the drawing for a beautiful Mantua Center School-themed quilt by local quilter, Ellie Monroe.
In a surprise twist, the name on the winning ticket was MaRSI. No one was more surprised than Ellie Monroe, “I was delighted to see “MaRSI” as the winner; several people had told me that if they won the quilt they would donate it back to be displayed at the school. I didn’t realize that any of them had actually written ‘MaRSI’ on their tickets.”
At their regular meeting the next night, MaRSI members discussed how to best use the quilt. In the end, they agreed it would be best showcased in the school/Township government building, where Township residents can enjoy seeing it.
“We don’t have any definite plans regarding display as of yet. It was mentioned that once Marie Stehli’s office is done (the current Fiscal Officer), she might be glad to have it on display there until the main hallway renovation is complete. That would be an ideal home for it.” Until then, the quilt will be properly stored until a display location is determined and that location is approved by the Township Trustees.
