On Nov. 15, 2015, the Garfield G-Men youth varsity football team played the Crestwood Red Devils for the Super Bowl at Dix Stadium in Kent. While Crestwood won the game with a final score of 8-0, the G-Men truly emerged victorious thanks to your community support.
Head coach Matthew and Kristie Swigonski would like to send a special thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Lysiak and the varsity football team for bringing the high school inflatable helmet to the stadium for the G-Men to make their grand entrance onto the field. It was truly amazing, and we are positive it will be forever engraved in our boys’ memories.
In addition, we would like to thank Pizza Hut, IGA, Robert and Gail Blair, and all of the parents who donated money, food or time for the bonfire and after-game party.
Thank you to the Graces and Demmas for hosting the parties for our football players and cheerleaders–what great memories! We would especially like to thank Kristy Lopez who worked tirelessly on the sidelines as our own personal photographer (and for freezing in a t-shirt and flip flops!).
Last but not least, we would like to send a thank you to everyone who came to the game to support the boys. We are all blessed to live in such a tight-knit community. Although we didn’t win the game, we all proudly walked away as winners.
Thank you, Garrettsville. And Go G-Men!
