Spring Sale at Hiram Farm

1458

Hiram – Mark your calendars for the annual Flower Sale at Hiram Farm — Wednesday through Friday, May 5th, 6th, and 7th. Each day, the sale runs from 10 am until 3 pm. As in previous years, the sale will offer annuals in flats and pots, with your favorite spring blooms. From impatiens to geraniums; dahlias, Boston ferns, and tropical plants, you’re sure to find something for yourself or the plant lovers you know. Wouldn’t Mom just love a hanging basket for Mother’s Day?

Shop early for the best selection. In addition to plants and flowers, Hiram Farm will offer ground beef at the sale in one or two-pound portions for $4 and $8 respectively. Please note that all shoppers are requested to wear a mask and maintain social distancing while at the sale.

For those unfamiliar with the farm on Garfield Road in Hiram, it’s an organic farm as well as a community project with a mission to provide meaningful work for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities. Since launching the program in 2009, every weekday people with developmental disabilities come to the Hiram Farm to grow plants and tend livestock, using organic principles, and create craft items. Not only does the Hiram Farm provide employment opportunities through this meaningful work, but on-site staff provides them with therapeutic opportunities, as well. Hiram Farm produces beef, pork, and produce on the 120-acre farm using organic principles.

Community support helps fuel these programs, and lending a hand is as easy as going shopping. By purchasing plants or crafts at Spring and Fall sales, or picking up produce, meat, and eggs at the seasonal farm stand, you’re supporting the meaningful work done at the Hiram Farm.
