The songs will rise on December 21 at three o’clock in the Garrettsville United Methodist Church, set on the air by the Chancel Choir, the three handbell ensembles and the interpretive narrators telling the story of “Glory to the Newborn King–Celebrating the Light of Christmas”. This outpouring of seasonal praise will incorporate biblical readings, familiar tunes and themes, in pieces such as “Come, Joy of Every Longing Heart”, “The Shepherds’ Noel”, “Comfort and Peace” as well as musical quotes of Greensleeves”, traditional French melodies, an African American spiritual and “For Unto Us a Child Is Born” from The Messiah by G.F. Handel.
Bells will be ringing out in three flights, with the Chancel Bells I offering a carillon-style piece, Chancel Bells II presenting a familiar tune and the Jesu Chimes graduating to real handbells.
“See, Amid the Winter’s Snow” will bring the message to our world today and from another small village called “Bethlehem, O Bethlehem”.
All are invited. All are welcome. Come receive. Come hear “Glory to the Newborn King”.
