Sharon L. McGinnis of Windham, OH

417

Sharon L. McGinnis, 70, of Windham, went home to her Lord and Savior Friday, February 10, 2023. She was born June 5, 1952, in Buckhannon, WV, to Charles and Joyce (nee Martz) Ratcliff.

She was a proud graduate of James A. Garfield, belonging to the class of 1971, although she was prouder to come from the Windham/Garrettsville area. Shortly after graduation, Sharon married the love of her life, Roy Leo McGinnis, on June 19, 1971. She accomplished many things in her life, and had many interesting jobs. Sharon enjoyed her employment at KMart in Streetsboro, where she worked for a few years. For many years she was a certified babysitter for the state of Ohio, and also was one of the lead housekeepers at The Holiday Inn in Newton Falls; she loved these jobs! Before Sharon became too ill to attend, she was a member of Newton Falls Baptist Church, and felt honored singing with her beloved church family in the choir and helping with Vacation Bible School. Spending Christmas with her family was especially dear to her, as Christmas was her favorite holiday. Sharon’s greatest enjoyment was caring for her family; she loved her husband, her kids, and her grandchildren with all of her heart.

Sharon will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Roy McGinnis, with whom she was blessed to share over 51 years of marriage; children, Dennis (Audrey) McGinnis, Amy (Chad) Blewitt, and Jennifer (Dennis) Carleton; grandchildren, Devon (fiancé, Dezaray Hurd ) McGinnis , Nathaniel (fiancé Casey Ziegler) Rutherford, Andrew (Lily “Lillian”) McGinnis, Jordan (Alex Griffith) Rutherford, Logan (Anna) Rutherford, Jason Blewitt, Thomas McGinnis, and Allison McGinnis; mother, Joyce Ratcliff; siblings, David Ratcliff and Debbie Adamson; fur-babies, Mugsy and Quinnie, as well as many dear family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Ratcliff.

Per Sharon’s wishes, she is to be cremated. Please join the family in celebrating Sharon’s life for a memorial visitation on Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 3:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M., at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. A memorial service will begin at 5:00 at the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Spurlock officiating. For online condolences go to www.carlsonfuneralhomes.com.
