Windham – The WVFD was the most recent recipient of State Farm’s Protect the Protectors Program. The program donated 10 home monitoring kits to the department. The Protect the Protector Program was launched in December 2015 by State Farm and Canary Home Monitoring System. Their goal was to protect those who protect us.  They want to recognize and acknowledge the dangers that first responders face, that there is a person behind the badge and they have families. Since the inception of the Protect the Protectors Program, they have given away over 20,000 monitoring systems to first responders.

State Farm is offering first responders a free home monitoring system by Canary. The home monitoring camera and system is free with a basic monitoring service. With that kit, they receive a 1089p HD camera, a 90 decibel, siren plus a built-in climate monitor. The company will store videos for up to 24-hours. The program allows one to down load a portal to their phone where they can see what’s going on inside or outside of their home depending on where they located their camera. If they want to upgrade to an expanded system, they can for $9.99/month. The upgrade program provides 30-day video storage, plus water and smoke detection and more. The equipment they have is all they need for the upgraded program.

Last Monday night, Shannan Jursa from the State Farm Office in Garrettsville presented Windham Fire and EMS Chief Rich Gano with ten of the Canary Home Monitoring Systems. She thanked the fire fighters and EMS for their commitment to the community and let them know how much their sacrifice is appreciated.
