The Brandeberry scholarship was established in 1961 in the Will of Kathryn Brandeberry, former teacher. The scholarship is to be given to the valedictorians of Newton Falls High School each year. The Kiwanis Club of Newton Falls maintains the scholarship.
Presenting the scholarship in the photo is Kathy Wujcik, Kiwanis treasurer, with Harley Pendleton, Frank Hanzes, Ethan Powell, Brian Axiotis, Lillian Sait, Kennedy Howard, Kennedy Weeks, Logan Elliott.
In addition, Newton Falls Kiwanis Club was pleased to award scholarships to three deserving young people. Their applications were judged anonymously by several Kiwanis members, who looked for potential for success, service to community through volunteering, leadership skills, their essays, and attendance records.
Recipients were Frank Hanzes, Brian Axiotis, and Payton Murphy.
