2227

Ravenna – Main Street Ravenna would like to thank all of the locally owned and operated restaurants from Ravenna and around Portage County who participated in the first annual Savory & Sweet in the County Seat Event on October 10th. The event, held at the Immaculate Conception Hall in downtown Ravenna, was a showcase of the special, locally owned options for dining here in Portage County. The eateries who were featured included, Guido’s, Icy Blast, Sunshine Cupcakes, DelCiello’s, Susie K’s Tea Room, Innovative Catering, Deluxe Bakery, Popped, Bean and the Baker, Mimi’s Italian Grill and Bar, Dos Coronas, Big Dog, English Pub and Bistro, Cellar Door Coffee from Garrettsville, Little City Grille from Kent, Special Moments Catering from Streetsboro, Vance’s Carriage House Creamery, Double R Bar-B-Que & Creamery and The Slop Truck based in Rootstown. Wines from West Main Street Winery and Brewery in downtown Ravenna as well as from Barrel Run Winery in Rootstown were also featured. This new signature event was designed to show off the variety of great locally-owned food businesses found not only in Ravenna but around Portage County. We brought everyone in to Ravenna, the county seat to emphasize the fact that everyone visits our downtown for one reason or another and that this is a “tasty” reason to do so! Eateries vied for the “Best Savory and Best Sweets award plate created by Studio Clay of Ravenna. The winners, with bragging rights for a year include: Sunshine Cupcakes, Guido’s, Double R Bar-B-Que & Creamery, Deluxe Bakery, Popped! and Big Dog.

A special thank you also goes out to our sponsors including Portage Community Bank, West Main Street Winery & Brewery, Hometown Bank, City Gardener & Florist, Sirna & Sons Produce, Allen Aircraft Products, Inc., Guido’s Pizza and Catering, Inc., Myers Appliance, Don Basch Jewelers, Gatehouse Media, Bill and Mary Beth Barber, and David and Janet Dix.

We appreciate all the support from the Ravenna community as well as around Portage County as we work to revitalize the historic downtown district here in the county seat.
