Santa Making Adjustments In Schedule To Ensure Christmas Eve Travels

2216

Garrettsville – The Garrettsville Area Chamber of Commerce was notified this week that Santa and many of his elves are on pre-Christmas travel restrictions through Christmas Eve, which means that he will not be making his annual appearance at the clock tower lighting. Upon hearing from Santa, the chamber board determined that we would do our part and follow the health department protocols and sadly cancel this year’s clocktower lighting.

When speaking with Santa, he requested that we stay positive and he encouraged us to think “outside the box” and find ways to keep the holiday spirit alive — so we have:

1) Holiday Hunt – beginning on December 5 the Garfield PTO & Beta Club will have a holiday Who-Done-It Contest. A mystery story will appear in the November 27 edition of The Villager which will lead you through the town in search of clues hidden within uniquely painted window murals on several businesses. Each clue will lead you to your next location and one step closer to solving the mystery.

2) Christmas On Main – Having Fun & Staying Safe – This year the Garrettsville Area Chamber of Commerce is putting a new spin on our annual Christmas on Main promotion. The stamp cards you are used to have been replaced with collectible scratch-off cards. You will receive cards by making purchases at many local businesses and restaurants. Each card gives you a chance to win one of over 2,500 Instant Win Prizes, or an entry into the Christmas on Main Chamber Bucks drawing.

Cards with Instant Win Prizes – These cards are redeemed directly at the merchant or restaurant listed on the prize. The business reserves the right to limit the number of prizes that can be redeemed at one time by an individual.

Chamber Bucks Drawing Entry Codes – The entry codes on these cards can be entered online 24/7 at 44231.org/raffle. Entry codes are valid for one drawing entry per code.

If you are unable to access the website, please mail your cards to:

2020 Christmas on Main Promo
PO Box 1
Garrettsville, OH 44231
Envelopes must be postmarked by December 15.

No drawing entry cards may be turned in at businesses. You must enter the drawing online, or by mailing the cards.
Christmas on Main runs from November 15 until the cards run out.

3) Christmas Coloring Contest – Have some holiday coloring fun, then send us one of your pictures for a chance to win! Coming in the November 27 edition of the Villager.

And most importantly — Santa would like to hear from all of the children and is looking forward to receiveing their letters. We will be helping Santa collect the letters and forwarding them to him at the North Pole where he will be working hard on updating his Christmas list.

There are two ways to get your letter to Santa: you can drop it into the special mailbox located outside the Villager at 8088 Main Street, Garrettsville or you can mail your letter to Santa to PO Box 1, Garrettsville, OH 44231.

Please include a return address, as Santa has assured us that he will be answering all letters he receives by December 20th.
