Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

490

Kids of all ages will be thrilled to learn that Santa will be making a few stops in the area next Saturday, December 4th. The first Santa sighting will be in Hiram at 10:30 am when he joins the Kiwanis for family fun at their Pizza with Santa at the Hiram Christian Church Fellowship Hall (6868 Wakefield Road). The cost is $3 per person, and includes pizza, beverages, cookies, and a small craft. And naughty and nice kids under three years old are free.

According to Dottie Summerlin, the Kiwanis is thrilled to be hosting the full event this year, since last year’s event was a drive-thru due to Covid precautions. She reminded kids of all ages to bring a camera to take pictures with Santa. In addition to lunch with the jolly old elf, kids can enjoy elf crafts and a Secret Santa Shop. No RSVP is needed, but make sure to bring your list for Santa and your facemasks, since those will be required. The Kiwanis programs raise funds for children and programs in the Crestwood, Garfield, and Windham School Districts.

Later that afternoon, Santa will be heading to Mantua to spread some holiday cheer. He’ll be in the Village from 12-3 pm in the heart of downtown. The Crestwood High School choir will be caroling, while local shops will be full of Christmas treasures that you won’t want to miss!

And due to a little Santa magic, your favorite Christmas icon will also be at Freedom Townhall (8966 State Route 700 at the intersections of S.R. 88/700/303) from 1-4pm. The Freedom Community Park Boosters invite kids of all ages to enjoy some hot chocolate, cider and cookies while mingling with Santa. A limited number of goodie bags are available for the kids. Bring your camera, and a non-perishable item for the Garrettsville Nelson Food Cupboard if you’re able.

And don’t forget that Santa’s workshop isn’t the only place to find great gifts. The folks at the Hiram Farm are holding their seasonal craft sale December 1st through the 4th, featuring handmade soaps, ceramics, and ornaments for gift-giving. They also have their own farm-raised beef and pork available for your holiday meals. The Hiram Farm is a non-profit organization that supports adults with Autism by providing meaningful work, so your purchases give back, too.

No matter what you and your family choose to do, there are so many ways to celebrate the season this year!
