Middlefield – On Thursday, Sept. 12 during the regular Middlefield Council meeting, Mayor Ben Garlich and Council members took time to recognize two exemplary Middlefield-based companies for many years of providing world-class products, service, employment opportunities and community support.
For more than 70 years, Middlefield-based Sajar Plastics has shown steady growth while expanding its manufacturing capabilities and facility, a direct result of earning a reputation in the custom molding industry as an innovative molder supplying high-quality, large, plastic parts and offering complex designs. Today, Sajar Plastics employs 80 and generously sponsors local recreation programing and events. Vice President Todd Pierce accepted the proclamation on behalf of Sajar (pictured below).
Also honored was Kraft Maid for their more than 50 years in business. KraftMaid Cabinetry was founded in Independence, Ohio in 1969. In the early 1980s, KraftMaid Cabinetry moved to Middlefield with 240 employees, expanded rapidly and currently employs 1,453 at Middlefield Plants 1 & 2.
KraftMaid has been committed to supporting the Village of Middlefield and the Cardinal Local School District, as well as other non-profit organizations. KraftMaid has grown to become one of the largest and most recognized brands of cabinetry for the home.
In 1990, KraftMaid was acquired by Masco Corporation, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of brand- name products for home improvement and the new home construction markets. For the past five decades, KraftMaid has been committed to helping customers create the kitchen of their dreams. Keith Scherzer, KraftMaid managing director of operations, received the proclamation on behalf of KraftMaid (pictured above).
