Ruth Irwin Gates, 94, of Venice, FL, formerly of Garrettsville, OH, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023. She was born February 26, 1929, in Parkman, OH, to the late Carl and Margaret Irwin.
She was a proud graduate of Parkman High School in 1947, followed by Ohio University in 1951, where she obtained a degree in Education. Ruth was employed at Bainbridge High School and James A. Garfield High School, where she taught Home Economics. Ruth also worked as a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker Realty in Akron, OH, as well as co-founded the Garrettsville Town Trotters Horse 4-H Club.
Ruth will be deeply missed by her 4 children and 2 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Stanley Sitko, and second husband, Dale Gates, Jr.
