Ruth A. Brown, 93 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Sunday August 29, 2021. She was God’s Gift to Us at the family home in Windham, on September 7, 1927, the daughter of the late Joe and Annette (Wharton) Pinney. A longtime resident of Windham, Ruth had been a 1945 graduate of Windham High School, and a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Windham. Ruth was a dedicated employee of Packard Electric in Warren, retiring in 1991 after 20 years of service. Ruth’s cooking and baking skills were well known, and she was always eager to share her food with others. She also liked camping, and creating special holiday goodies in her kitchen which she also shared with family and friends. An avid reader, when it was time for Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune, Ruth would be tuned in to her favorite shows seeing now fast she could be a winner.
Ruth cherished her loving family as a devoted mother, and grandmother, as did their love for her. Ruth left a legacy of knowing her final years were that of sharing her faith, and the importance of her Christian beliefs. She felt that her church was an inspiration to herself, as well as to others, as she carried that message in all of her days on earth.
She is survived by her devoted children, Michael (Patricia) McManus of Georgia, Timothy (Anne) McManus of Pickerington, Ohio, Dennis (Karen) McManus and Patricia (Gerald) Clayton, both of Windham; dear sister Helen Gross of Hartville; 9 loving grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Her dear brothers Joe and James Pinney, and her first husband Claude McManus preceded her in death. Ruth will be sadly missed by all until we meet again.
No calling hours. Final resting place at Windham Township Cemetery. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday September 4, 2021, 1:00 P.M. at the Congregational United Church of Christ of Windham. Ruth was a very active member of the “Helping Hands” of her church, and donations to that group would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. Donations may be sent to P.O.Box 402, Windham, Ohio 44288.
