Rotary Club Program on July 17

1283

The Rotary Club of Mantua will feature Roger Hurd as our speaker at our meeting on Thursday July 17 at the Rt 44 Coffee Shop meeting room in Mantua.

Roger is a long time resident of the Mantua community. He moved here in 1948, and raised his family of three children with his wife Linda . All the Hurds including the next generation have been active and well known in our community.

In his retirement, Roger has had time to look back in history to the involvement of the Mormon church in this area.

The Mormons were actively settling here and in Kirtland in the 1830s Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon were settled in at the Johnson home on Pioneer trail, building their church and preaching their faith.

All did not always go well.

Roger will tell you about that very interesting time in our history.

Guests are invited to join Rotary for dinner at 6:30 Reservations necessary through Sue Steinberg 330 233 0076  or attend the program at 7:00 PM
