Repurposed Materials: Giving New Life to Corporate Castoffs

1170

The spirit of innovation and sustainability was celebrated recently as the Newton Falls Area Commerce Association played host to a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Repurposed Materials, located at 2300 Milton Blvd in Newton Falls. This unique venture, spearheaded by Owner and Founder Damon Carson, is on a mission to breathe new life into the castoffs and discards of Corporate America while diverting them from landfills.

Described by Carson as an “Industrial Thrift Store,” Repurposed Materials aims to reduce waste by repurposing items deemed obsolete in their primary industries. From retired street sweeper brushes finding new purpose as back scratchers for horses or cattle, to obsolete ski lift cables transforming into hand railings in condo buildings, the company’s vision is as creative as it is environmentally conscious.

Carson, a seasoned entrepreneur with a keen eye for sustainability, has been at the helm of Repurposed Materials for 14 years. His inspiration stemmed from witnessing the staggering waste within the construction industry. “You can’t wrap your mind around how wasteful America is until you run a waste company,” Carson remarks, highlighting the urgent need for innovative solutions to tackle our consumption patterns.

Repurposed Materials isn’t just a local initiative; it’s a nationwide movement with locations spanning across Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Iowa, and South Carolina. However, despite its widespread presence, Carson remains rooted in Colorado, where he resides with his family.

The company’s ultimate goal is twofold: to minimize waste destined for landfills and to provide new homes for discarded materials. By offering a diverse array of repurposed items, Repurposed Materials invites the community to explore creative ways of reuse while championing sustainability.

For those intrigued by the prospect of giving new life to overlooked materials, a visit to Repurposed Materials promises a fascinating journey into the world of upcycling. Whether seeking inspiration for DIY projects or simply curious about the possibilities of repurposing, the doors of Repurposed Materials are open, inviting all to join in the mission of sustainability, one discarded item at a time.
