Reel in the Fun: Join Hiram’s Officers for Cops and Kids Fishing Day

Hiram – In a 2021 survey, 57 percent of U.S. participants interviewed indicated that the best thing about fishing was enjoying the sounds and smells of nature. In comparison, 54 percent of participants said that getting away from the usual demands of life was what they enjoyed most about fishing. The third best reason given was, not surprisingly, catching fish; number four was the opportunity to spend time with family and friends.

If any of those reasons sound good to you, then make plans to attend the annual Cops and Kids Fishing Day on Saturday, August 19th. The event takes place at Camp Asbury in Hiram this Saturday from 9 am until 1 pm. No fishing licenses are needed, just your favorite fishing rod, a friend or two, and the willingness to have some fun. A limited number of rod and reels will be provided to the children. Lunch will also be provided at no cost to all attendees, courtesy of Haylett’s Save 4 Store.

“We hold the Cops and Kids Fishing Day close to our hearts,” Patrolman Anthony Yoder, Hiram Police Department’s Community Affairs Officer shared. “We believe the event provides an opportunity for police officers and their community to come together to enjoy the outdoors, catch some fish, and enjoy the day together.” Go fishing with Hiram’s officers on Saturday at Camp Asbury for some fishing, food, prizes and fun!
