Ravenna – Please join us for a fun-filled afternoon when the Ravenna Community Choir presents a new Christmas cantata, Rhapsody in Bluegrass by Joseph M. Martin, at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, at the Ravenna Assembly of God.
Rhapsody in Bluegrass: A Christmas Jubilee tells the Christmas story with music based on American folk songs, spirituals, bluegrass-styled carols and Appalachian country tunes.
The cantata was premiered in 2017 at Carnegie Hall to stellar reviews!
The choir will host a holiday basket raffle preceeding the concert at 2 p.m. The 29 baskets feature gift items and gift cards from many generous Ravenna merchants. Included is a money tree containing 40 one dollar coins, a lottery wreath containing $50 of lottery tickets, groupings of gift cards and many themed baskets great for holiday giving Tickets may also be purchased during intermission. Winner will be announced following the concert when refreshments will also be available.
The choir is directed by Janis Harcar with accompanist, Rick DeMattia. The Ravenna Assembly of God is located at 6401 OH-14, Ravenna and is also accessible from Bryn Mawr Street. There is no admission fee for the concert. There’s plenty of free parking at the church.
