Portage County Amateur Radio Services (PCARS) has made a generous donation of $11,178.51 to the Center of Hope, a program under Family and Community Services. For 19 years, the organization has been actively fundraising for the Center, and this year’s contribution marks the largest amount they have ever donated.
Michael Gonzalez, president of PCARS, and treasurer Greg Ash recently presented a check to Mark Frisone, the executive director of Family & Community Services. The funds have been raised through the efforts of club members and the wider community, significantly benefiting Portage County over the years.
During the club’s general meeting in December, PCARS President Michael Gonzalez expressed his excitement, stating, “We have achieved an outstanding fundraising milestone for the Center of Hope. I am delighted to announce that our contribution of $11,178.51 is our largest to date! Over the past 19 years, PCARS has contributed more than $95,000 to support our community. I take great pride in this club and its dedication to the Center of Hope. Giving back is fundamental to our mission. A sincere thank you to everyone for your generosity and support!”
Each year, the Center of Hope serves hundreds of families in Portage County by offering hot meals five days a week through its dining center and providing emergency groceries via its choice pantry. These services are offered at no cost and are based on individual income levels.
