R44 Improvements Continue in Mantua

Mantua – Those who adhere to the Stephen Covey idea that ‘What you do has far greater impact than what you say,’ may see that thought in action in Mantua these days. Restoration 44 opened its doors in May of 2019 offering coffees, teas, and a welcome meeting spot, its open doors invited those from near and far to experience the small town charm of Mantua. Locals were thrilled when the folks behind this local treasure decided to bring the meat shop across Main Street back to life.

With construction on schedule to open in the beginning of November, the R44 Butcher and Baker Shoppe has already started making an impact in the village. They recently completed a sidewalk project that R44 Co-Owner Terry Tung noted was a “priority.”  The new sidewalk and ramp provide all with access to the shop and that block of businesses. According to Tung, the project improves access, aesthetics, and safety; it also repairs an erosion issue in the front of the historic building. Tung expressed thanks to Jeff Benner and Eric Hummel, who donated ramp access on the green space.

Across the street at the flagship business, Holly Michelson (from 5:5 Photography) is hard at work on the village’s second mural, which echoes the striking sunset design of the original piece on the exterior of the soon-to-open meat shop. The new mural, taking shape on the exterior of R44 Coffee facing Middlefield Bank, will feature a silhouette of a grandfather and grandson fishing. Each new project gains momentum, helping build excitement, draw in visitors and businesses, and make the Village a notable destination for the region.
