The Portage County Board of Elections is looking for civic minded citizens who would like to be a part of democracy in action and serve as Precinct Election Officials for the March 19, 2024 Primary Election. In order to be eligible, you must be a resident of Portage County, 17 years of age or older, be registered to vote, and have reliable transportation. All Precinct Election Officials will attend training, for which they will be paid $20. If you work on Election Day, the compensation is $130.
Precinct Election Official duties include helping to set up election equipment the morning of the Election, work directly with voters to help them through the election process by answering questions and providing them with the appropriate ballot, and shutting down the election equipment at the end of the day. Precinct Election Officials work from 5:45 a.m. until all tasks are completed after the close of polls at 7:30 p.m.
For the March 19, 2024 Primary Election, attorneys, who train and work all day on Election Day can earn 4 free Continuing Legal Education credits. Counselors; social workers, and marriage and family therapists will also receive 4 free continuing education credits for working on Election Day. Certified Public Accountants who train and work all day on Election Day can earn 5 CPEs.
