Portage Parks Wild Hikes Challenge

966

Hit the trail and take the Wild Hikes Challenge—just hike eight of the designated trails before December 1st to earn a hiking stick and brass tag.  Hike on your own, or with a group at one of the guided hikes led by Executive Director Christine Craycroft.  “We have more folks taking the Challenge every year, including young scouts, families and senior ‘silver sneakers’ groups’, said Craycroft,  “It’s a great excuse to get out and explore some new trails, and a good opportunity to learn more about Portage Parks”.  The Wild Hikes form lists this year’s trails and are available at the Park District website www.portageparkdistrict.org, along with maps and directions to the parks.  Or call the park office at (330) 297-7728.
The guided hikes will start at 6:00 at the following trails:
•   July 1: Headwaters Trail starting at SR 700 parking area going east
• July 8: Headwaters Trail starting at SR 700 going west
• July 15: Towner’s Woods Ski Trail
• July 22: Seneca Ponds
• July 29: Dix Park
• August 5: The PORTAGE starting at the Lake Rockwell Road trailhead
