The Portage Park District has launched its Community Parks and Trails Grant Program to assist in funding parks and trails in townships and villages in Portage County. The Board of Park Commissioners has earmarked $100,000 from its 2025 levy proceeds toward this pilot program, for awards between $1,000 and $25,000 per project, with no local match required.
“We appreciate how challenging it can be to create and improve parks on a small budget,” said Christine Craycroft, Executive Director, “and while we are busy with several Park District acquisition and development projects, we’re happy to also partner with communities to help meet their local park needs”.
The grant application is available for download from the Park District website, with an application deadline of September 1st, 2025. Applicants are encouraged to contact the Park District for assistance in scoping park improvements or developing the grant application.
