Portage Foundation Unveils Community Education Series

52

The Portage Foundation is proud to announce the launch of its new Community Education Series, designed to empower and educate the Portage County community on a variety of topics. The inaugural program, titled “Heir Conditioning: How to Make an Inheritance Mean Something,” will take place on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Hobbs Hall in Kent, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

This engaging session will feature Jack Alpern, a renowned attorney and family wealth counselor with over four decades of experience in estate planning and wealth management. Jack will lead an enlightening discussion of the do’s and don’ts of family inheritance, including actual case studies of mistakes made, lessons learned, and how to ensure the legacy you want to leave.

“We’re thrilled to kick off our Community Education Series with such a compelling topic,” said Janice Simmons-Mortimer, Executive Director of the Portage Foundation. “Many parents hope to leave a helpful inheritance to their children and grandchildren, but don’t recognize the unintended problems it can create. Protecting one’s legacy can be easy – with the right expectations and the right tools in place.”

The event is free to the public and refreshments will be provided. Registration can be completed online at portagefoundation.org or by calling 330-470-8950 ext. 803.

The Portage Foundation Community Education Series will consist of two to four learning opportunities each year, providing residents, businesses, and nonprofit organizations with information aimed to help Portage County strengthen and prosper.
