Ravenna – The Portage County Financial Wellness Fair, a free program held in November and aimed at helping area residents improve their financial lives, has been recognized by the Ohio Treasurer of State with a Compass Award for December 2021. The monthly recognition program commends organizations, programs, and individuals across the state who are working to guide Ohioans toward financial literacy education and empowerment.
This year’s Financial Wellness Fair, consisting of a series of virtual classes on various personal finance topics and an in-person community expo event featuring local financial experts, was the fifth such event sponsored by the office of Portage County Treasurer Brad Cromes since the program’s launch in 2017. The next Financial Wellness Fair is tentatively scheduled for mid-November 2022.
“No matter your age, it’s always a good time to learn something new that can have ripple effects into your future. The Compass Awards recognize and celebrate the personal finance education efforts helping Ohioans in every stage of life,” said Treasurer of State Robert Sprague in a commendation presented to local leaders. “Regardless of your path in life, being well-versed in the basics of financial literacy can set you on a road toward success.” In accepting the award, Portage County Treasurer Brad Cromes agreed, adding “We are humbled that our work to help local residents find the information they need to live better financial lives is being recognized, and proud of the way this community has responded to our call to act. We look forward to another great event next year.”
