The Portage Substance Abuse and Mental Health Conference will be held on October 31 from 8:00am-4pm at the NEW Center Ballroom at the Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown.
Dr. Laura Markley of Akron Children’s will discuss the impact of marijuana on adolescents. Client engagement in mental health and substance use treatment will be a topic presented by Dr. Russell Spieth of The Centers. Preston Moore will discuss stigma and family engagement. Cleveland State University professor, Dr. Don Allensworth-Davies will discuss LGBTQ+ cultural competency. The day will end with a panel discussion of the latest initiatives in the mental health and addiction space in Portage County.
The Crisis Intervention Team awards will be presented during the luncheon.
Continuing education credits are available for social workers, counselors, and clock hours for treatment and prevention professionals. Townhall II is providing the continuing education units.
