The Portage County Senior Board has selected Joe D’Amico from Field Local Schools and Claire Dilner from Southeast Local Schools as the February Seniors of the Month. Each month, the board, comprised of representatives from 12 local schools, nominates outstanding seniors who exemplify leadership, dedication, and excellence.
Joe D’Amico – Field Local Schools
Described as generous, hardworking, and outgoing, Joe D’Amico is a leader both in and out of the classroom. He serves as the captain of the wrestling team and vice president of the National Honor Society (NHS). In addition to his athletic and academic commitments, Joe gives back to his school community by running the concession stand during sporting events. After graduation, Joe plans to attend Kent State University, continue his wrestling career, and pursue a degree in Education.
Claire Dilner – Southeast Local Schools

Claire Dilner is recognized for being self-motivated, reliable, and committed. She demonstrates exceptional leadership as the Senior Class President, President of NHS, and past president and vice president of two 4-H clubs. Claire is also a dedicated athlete, competing in five sports, all while maintaining an impressive 4.0 GPA. She plans to attend Marietta College to major in Sports Medicine and continue her athletic career in lacrosse.
The Portage County Senior Board, which meets monthly during the school year, consists of representatives from Windham Local Schools, Maplewood Career Center, Kent City Schools, James A. Garfield Local Schools, Field Local Schools, Crestwood Local Schools, Aurora City Schools, Waterloo Local Schools, Streetsboro City Schools, Southeast Local Schools, Rootstown Local Schools, and Ravenna Local Schools. Each school nominates one male and one female student for consideration as Senior of the Month.
