Ravenna – The Portage County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet Saturday, March 24, 2019 at the Portage County Historical Society at 10:00 a.m. The society is located at 6549 N. Chestnut St., Ravenna, Ohio.
Our guest speaker will be Thomas Neel. Mr. Neel is the Library Director of Ohio Genealogical Society. He is a lifelong resident of Huron County, Ohio and holds a MA degree in Library & Information Science, Kent State University. Neel is a member of FFO, SCWFO, SBO, CFO, Sons War of 1812 and the author of several genealogical books and articles.
Mr. Neel will present the program on Census Records: The Special Schedules. He will discuss the various records available outside of the normal population census to use for family research.
The program is free and open to anyone interested in genealogy or local history.
The genealogy chapter meets the first Saturday of the month at the Portage County Historical Society at 10:00 a.m. from September through May, with no meeting in January,
