The Portage County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Portage County Historical Society at 10:00 a.m. The society is located at 6549 N. Chestnut St., Ravenna, Ohio.
The guest speaker will be Mary Jamba. When Ohio Was The West will be the topic from this avid genealogist with more than 20 years of research experience. The Ohio frontier was the wild west in the late 18th & early 19th centuries. Join us as we explore the migration and lifestyle of these early pioneers.
Mary lectures nationally and locally on a variety of topics. She currently serves as trustee and education chair of the Ohio Genealogical Society, immediate past president of the Greater Cleveland Chapter of the OGS, Program Chair of the Western Reserve Historical Society Genealogical Committee, Treasurer of the Great Lakes Chapter of APG and the DNA User Group Leader at the Computer Assisted Genealogy Group Cleveland.
The program is free and open to anyone interested in genealogy or local history.
The genealogy chapter meets the first Saturday of the month at the Portage County Historical Society at 10:00 a.m. from September through May, with no meeting in January,
